route in detail

From the Lighthouse Park lot, go through the south gate and head east on Salal Loop, then follow Arbutus Trail east to the shoreline and south past big trees and rocky outcrops, with a spur to Eagle Point facing the city. Rejoin Valley Trail toward the lighthouse; side paths drop steeply to Starboat Cove. Continue west past the station buildings to a rock overlooking Point Atkinson lighthouse, then return north on the western trails.

Watch for: Steep paths down to coves; rocky shoreline can be slippery. Busy lot on weekends.

Best season: all year

good to know cam

Hi, I'm Cam Appleton. I love Vancouver and I love getting out on its trails. When I went looking for a simple, easy hiking guide for around here, I couldn't find one I liked. I also really like helping people, so I built this one.

My day job is real estate. I help people buy, sell and lease. I hope you're enjoying the start of Hike Vancouver. If you're thinking about living closer to trails like this one, I'm happy to talk.
